Technology sales include flash drives and are showing up on back to school supply lists.
Do a Google search of ?flash drives school supply lists? and page after page of schools pops up. So the question of whether flash drives are standard for back to school is kind of a silly question. It seems many schools required them. So there will probably be a flash drive on your back to school list.
Technology is a large part of education. Parents of children in elementary schools are now finding that their children are getting regular computer time either in the classroom or scheduled computer lab time. It makes sense if you think about it. In most adult hands is a small computer they call a smart phone. On their desks at work is another computer. They may likely have a tablet computer in their personal and/or professional worlds. Computers and technology are all around us, so why wouldn?t our children be using it in the classroom?
Flash drives, sometimes called thumb drives or a memory stick, are small devices that store data. They aren?t a true ?drive? in that they have no moving parts, but instead have a memory chip ranging from 2GB to as large as up to 1TB (terabytes). They are less fragile than floppy discs or CDs. They are widely Universal Serial Bus (USB) and run on many different systems. The same flash drive you use in your desktop computer at work, will work in your tablet computer or laptop computer. Flash drives can be found in store technology sales areas as well as at online technology sales sites.
Because they are less fragile, small and more easily carried, and work across different systems, they are popular in schools. Flash drives also don?t require any type of network or internet to work. While some schools like to use cloud storage for student use, not all students have home access to internet. Other school systems need to upgrade their internet capabilities, a cost many find challenging in this economy with shrinking budgets, in order to use cloud storage. Flash drives don?t and are an inexpensive add to a supply list. Some 2GB drives can be found for as little as $5.
So flash drives are showing up on most back to school supply lists. Invest in them for your kids!
