Richland Newhope and MedCentral Mansfield have been honored by Ohio Public Images for their efforts in 2011 to support individuals with developmental disabilities.
Both organizations were recognized on Monday during the Ohio Superintendents of County Boards of Developmental Disabilities awards luncheon in Columbus.
For the fifth time in six years, Richland Newhope received an Award of Excellence for its efforts to increase awareness about the agency and how individuals served contribute to the community.
?It?s Richland Newhope?s mission to support people with developmental disabilities to live, work and participate in the community,? said Jane Imbody, Director of Community Relations for Richland Newhope. ?We are thrilled that our efforts have once again received statewide recognition.?
MedCentral received an Award of Merit for its efforts to employ individuals with developmental disabilities. MedCentral was singled out for its participation in Project SEARCH, a program designed to provide work experience for youth as they transition from high school. In the past six years, 75 people with disabilities have participated and 31 have found employment in the community. MedCentral has hired 18 of those individuals and 13 are still under their employ.
The Ohio Public Images and the Public Images Network?s mission is to create?positive?public awareness of persons with developmental disabilities.
